For the third edition of the UNCAF nations Cup, the UNCAF (Central American football Union) designates the Salvador as host of the competition, the tournament held at San Salvador, capital of the country, and Santa Ana.
For this edition, six national teams are participating in the competition, the top three teams qualify for the Gold Cup 1996.
On November 29, 1995, the third UNCAF nations Cup starts.
In Group A, the Salvador perfectly began his tournament against newcomer Belize, 3-0 victory. In the second match, Costa Rica, the tournament outsider, snatches victory against Belize at the 88', and gives itself the right to play the first place of the group against La Selecta.
At San Salvador, on 3 December 1995, Costa Ricans opened the score at the 32' by Sergio Morales, but the men of José Omar Pastoriza start the second half pushed by their audience, and at the 62', William Osorio equalizes before that Costa Rican selection won't crack at the 81' through a goal from Mauricio Cienfuegos. The Salvador finished first in the group, the Costa Rica accompanies him to second place.
In Group B, the Honduran reigning dominates his opponents, with two wins in two matches against the Guatemala and Panama on the score without call for 2-0. Second of the group, the Guatemala wins its match cleaver against Panama 1-0 thanks to a goal at the 21' from Julio Rodas.
On 7 December, the semi-finals take place, Honduras against Costa Rica and the Salvador against the Guatemala.
Between La H and Los Ticos, the last two winners of the competition, it is a final before the time. Rudy Alberto Williams opens the score for Hondurans at the 55', but the men of Toribio Rojas doubt not long, and Rolando Fonseca, the scorer of Deportivo Saprissa, equalize five minutes later. The end of the match ends on this score of 1-1, and both teams must pass the penaltys to determine who will go in the final of the 1995 UNCAF Cup. The tension is palpable, and the Honduras comes out winner 4 shots against 2 shots.
In the other semi-final, the Guatemala faces the Salvador in a whole stadium acquired the cause of Salvadorans. And despite this, the Bicolor will not let pass up its chance and takes advantage at the 14' through its scorer Julio Rodas. La Selecta tried to comeback, but Guatemalans do not crack and kept the advantage until final whistle.
On 10 December, the day begins with the match for third place between the Salvador and Costa Rica.
Wanting to complete the head high competition, la Selecta dominates and leads to the score through Raúl Díaz Arce at the 18', before upgrading just before half-time by Jorge Rodríguez. Costa Ricans react at the 72' by Rolando Fonseca, but it is too late, and the Salvador finished the tournament in a 3rd honourable place.
Later in the day, it is the finale of the UNCAF Cup of nations, the Honduras against the Guatemala, title-holder against the surprise of the tournament.
And the market is too high for la Bicolor, led to the score from the first minute of play thanks to a goal from Milton Núñez. Calvary continues, and Carlos Pavón signed a double in this match one-way for a 3-0 final victory.
The Honduras won its second UNCAF cup in three participations, the Guatemala learns at his own expense the pressure of a final.
With three goals scored, Carlos Pavón (Honduras) and Rolando Fonseca (Costa Rica) finished top scorers in the competition.
Second and third respectively of the UNCAF Cup of nations 1995, the Guatemala and the Salvador are qualified with the Honduras to participate in the Gold Cup 1996.
