For the 11th edition of the South American football Championship (known as Copa América since 1975), the organization of the tournament is entrusted to the Peru. Although affiliate to FIFA in 1924 and CONMEBOL in 1925, Peruvian selection made his debut in the South American Championship of football in 1927 and was therefore responsible for the organization of the competition. Among the other nations affiliated to CONMEBOL, three don’t participate in this edition, [pays:49]Chile, Brazil and [pays:54]Paraguay. Other participating selections are Uruguay (titleholder), Argentina and Bolivia. All matches of the competition take place in Lima, capital of the Peru, in estadio Nacional.
The first two selections of the tournament qualify for the Olympic Games of 1928, in the capital of the Netherlands Amsterdam.

In the rules of football in 1927, no replacement players is expected during a match, and the referee does not yet of yellow and red cards.

The four participating selections vie for victory in a single group, each team in turn, meeting the first of the group won the competition. A won match scores 2 points, a match draw 1 point, and a loss 0 point.
In case of equality of points between the top teams in the group, a second round is expected to know the winner of the competition.

October 30, 1927, the South American football Championship begins.
In the estadio Nacional of Peru in Lima, 15,000 spectators are present to attend the first game of the competition, Argentina against the Bolivia. The Argentines, twice champion of the South American football Championship, are the outsiders of the tournament, behind the great Uruguayan favorite.
